[January 26, 2010] - Integrated Control Station in Landau in South Palatinate (Germany) back
Knürr Technical Furniture impresses with its harmonious overall concept

The integrated control station in Landau, which is operated by the German Red Cross is responsible for all non-police assistance calls in the towns of Landau, Pirmasens, Zweibrücken and the administrative districts of Germersheim, Südliche Weinstraße and Südwestpfalz. A new building was recently provided and technically equipped for this operations center, which is responsible for approx. 460,000 residents. With the aid of Knürr Technical Furniture’s experts, the integrated control station was equipped with harmonized control station furniture and brought up to the latest state of technology.

After the State of Rheinland-Palatinate had provided financial resources as part of the Konjunkturprogramm II (economic aid program), the German Red Cross performed intensive market research. Despite the strong competition, the decision was finally made in favor of Knürr Technical Furniture. The company completely and absolutely met all requirements for a harmonized overall concept and delivered technically high quality and ergonomic solutions for the rescue services control station, which was last modernized more than 20 years ago. “Our integrated control station is the base for sounding alarm and controlling rescue service deployments,” explains Bernd Fischer, Managing Director at DRK Rettungsdienst Südpfalz GmbH, and adds: “The new furniture therefore had to satisfy special technological and ergonomic requirements.”

Approximately 85,000 operations are controlled and managed in the south and southwest Palatinate area, covering some 2,270 km², every year. High-grade systems were therefore ordered for the integrated control station, which also meet occupational health standards in addition to technical particulars. As the station’s employees operate in round-the-clock shift work, optimum conditions were expected and required at their workstations. Knürr’s solutions are, of course, the ideal choice for such conditions: The Knürr ErgoCon series electric-motor height-adjustable desks feature stepless working height setting. The height is set via an extremely quiet lifting mechanism and allows the user to individually adjust their work area. The ergonomic monitor connection with TFT adaption on the circular functional rail also meets the requirements for increasing visual needs in the Landau control station. The optimum viewing distances from the monitors support comfort, and consequently satisfaction at the workstation. The functional rails and the monitor columns can be freely positioned and extended on the worktops. The hidden cable management also contributes to more order and better appearance of the new furniture. The spacious technical pedestal for integrating the technology at the workstation guarantees complete legroom freedom, as the equipment can be intelligently housed when the mounting panels and chassis runners are installed. The new systems therefore promote more effective working. The control station will officially go into operation on January 1, 2010, when 22 employees will start their work in the new building and benefit from the new solutions.

Before Knürr was commissioned Mr. Fischer made sure the products had the required quality. The control station Managing Director made a visit to Arnstorf to take a personal look at the company’s services: “The workstations and the solutions meet all the requirements for the staff and storage rooms and the equipment for the administrators’ offices that we demanded of the new systems,” says Mr. Fischer. He therefore rates DRK’s cooperation with Knürr Technical Furniture positively without exception. “The project was extremely well managed. Both the products and the Knürr experts have completely met our expectations. Our supplier is the ideal partner for our restructuring, and we have even reordered some products already,” sums up a clearly satisfied MD.
