New operations control centers for Straubing and Regensburg Police Headquarters The Bavarian Police organizational reform recently involved police stations being integrated into existing police headquarters. On this basis, Knürr Technical Furniture equipped the new control stations with Elicon and ErgoCon series height-adjustable and fixed-height control station desks, as well as a situation desk. As of immediately, each administrative district will now be controlled from one operations center, where all of the region’s emergency calls will be answered. “The restructuring of the existing system gave us the opportunity to also implement some changes within the various headquarters, because ultimately our responsibilities have also grown with the expansion of our area of activity,” explains Paul Mader, ex-Deputy Police Chief in Passau, future Director of Operations, and currently head of projects in the Lower Bavaria/Upper Palatinate region. Chief Superintendent Thomas Schöniger, who is responsible for operations centers/situation control at the Upper Palatinate Police Headquarters, believes the innovations are an absolute necessity: “The operations centers are staffed around the clock, so a new, modernized setup is therefore especially important. ” As the existing furnishing was only adequate for regional and therefore smaller sites, the facilities also had to be improved as part of the consolidation. “Completely new requirements were revealed with the new control stations, not least of all because of the high number of applications used on them,” explains Mr. Schöniger. User-oriented workstations optimize workflows “Well-equipped work areas are essential in ensuring work satisfaction and employee motivation. This in turn has a positive effect on our work with the general public,” says Mr. Mader. The re-arranged staff rooms provide a wide range of benefits with the various installed systems. In standard operation they are suitable for conferences. If special police deployment situations develop, operational readiness is provided at the push of a button, so that IT systems, communication and operation control systems are all quickly available. An especially impressive feature here is provided by the equipment components sunk into the workstation, which can be driven out as required. This guarantees that the necessary equipment is ready for the entire staff at all times – quickly and transparently. The master and situation positions on the desk are pre-programmed to three different work heights. The user can choose between standby position, pull-out height for the keyboard and working height. The monitors included in the system have an engage mechanism, which allows them to be tilted manually. The situation desk also provides a depth-adjustable monitor support for setting the viewing distance to the TFT screen, and the integrated shelf for telephone and keyboard ensures the user has the highest possible level of comfort. Individual setting options ensure best possible working comfort In addition to the staff room, operations desks were also installed in the operations center, which is the center piece of the police headquarters. This is where the officers work as emergency and operations managers right around the clock. The ultra-modern systems implemented here are especially remarkable for their extreme comfort, because the desk height is set individually, so that the ideal position is found for every employee. The practically noiseless lifting mechanism also enables stepless height setting with extremely quiet running and the ergonomic monitor connection with TFT adaption to the circular functional rail guarantees ideal viewing distances to the screens. With freely positionable monitor columns the customer can integrate further monitor rails at any time and the hidden cable management below the worktops creates a pleasant, orderly atmosphere right throughout the rooms of the respective police headquarters. During the project the internal police specialists fitted Knürr’s technical workstations with the necessary equipment, such as radios, PCs, alarm and operation control systems, and communications technology. The workstations now provide their users with the highest possible level of comfort and functionality. This is the combination that was targeted, as all police operations in the Lower Bavaria/Upper Palatinate region are coordinated from here. |
