[01/21/2009] - Knürr Technical Furniture with yet another innovation at ATC Global in Amsterdam back

For the third time in a row, Knürr Technical Furniture will present innovative console solutions for traffic control centers, control rooms and air traffic controller workstations at ATC Global. In addition to Knürr’s modular LCD Monitor Wall, from 17 to 19 March, interested trade visitors can get their first look at the newly developed and height-adjustable air traffic controller desk with integrated 2k-2k monitor. Yet another highlight is presented with the Operations Control Center (OCC) console with integrated voice communication system. “This system solution is specially designed to cover the demanding requirements in safety/security areas. The flexible height setting of the worktop levels and the ergonomic adjustment of the displays in particular, really make the air traffic controller desk stand out from the crowd,” explains Gerhard Buchbauer, General Manager of Knürr’s Technical Furniture Division.
The integration of all monitors that are important for air traffic control (ATC) and air traffic management (ATM) is also easy to implement, because the monitors can be optimally added to the overall solution concept.
“Increasing automation processes in the ATC and ATM sectors mean that ergonomically arranged process control consoles are also increasing in importance all the time. Height-adjustable console desks, which adjust to the individual physiognomy of the employee and ergonomically formed office chairs with perfect sitting comfort and stability are therefore indispensable for 24/7 operation,” says Mr. Buchbauer in emphasizing the importance of the dynamic workstation system. The Knürr GM is confident that thanks to the newly developed solution, he can look forward to numerous interesting meetings with company decision makers.
As a modular and therefore scalable solution, the height-adjustable air traffic controller desk has proven itself to be a future-oriented system, and it offers visitors to the most important trade fair in the ATC and ATM sector an important building block for monitoring and control centers configured for permanent operation.

Alongside the height-adjustable air traffic controller desk, another highlight at the trade fair center will be a modular and network-enabled LCD monitor wall for TFT displays. Practically edge-less 46” LCD displays from NEC will be presented for the first time. This matrix solution with 4 displays features frames that hardly interrupt or disturb the eye, and is therefore a true alternative to rear projection technology. Integrated cable management in the basic rack of the Monitor Wall intelligently rounds off this appealing and functional design. Scalable with a modularity-configured structure, the Monitor Wall is ideal for control rooms of all sizes and levels of importance.

With its long-standing years of experience and innovative know-how, Knürr offers a comprehensive product and services portfolio for ATC/ATM and international projects, at, for example, Qatar Airways, DFS (Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH) in Munich and Karlsruhe, or in the apron tower in Zürich, which also qualifies the company as a leading developer and producer of modular console solutions for air traffic control centers, control rooms and air traffic controller workstations. Furthermore, specialists from the in-house Engineering Center also enable a state-of-the-art targeted and simultaneously flexible implementation of the respective customer requirements.
