[09/12/2008] - New Knürr Ergonomic Console “ErgoCon®” back

Right on time for Security 2008 in Essen – with the ErgoCon® Knürr AG now presents a new, height-adjustable workstation.

In recent years modern communications technology has radically changed workstations in digital public safety communications systems, in industrial applications, in control centers and in monitoring and control rooms.
While the equipment on people’s desks has been adapted in increasingly shorter intervals to the new technology, the actual workstation has so far found it difficult to keep up with the pace.

In shift work in particular, or with constantly changing users at a workstation, the individual adjustment of work heights, tilt and viewing angle on the monitors are especially important. The Knürr ErgoCon® height setting adjustable between 680 and 1,250 mm is not only extremely quiet – it also boasts up to four lifting columns as a pioneer in the electrical height adjustment area.

Ergonomics adjustment par excellence
The system’s intelligent technology ensures that the entire worktop is driven up and down at the touch of a button – as if by magic! The Knürr ErgoCon® can be adjusted to the working position, completely in line with requirements. A memory function saves different users from having to reprogram the height position and speed, and an anti-collision function minimizes downtimes. What at first may sound like unnecessary luxury, actually makes absolute sense! Health complaint number 1 in the workplace? Back trouble! And this is mostly caused by insufficient movement and bad posture. Sitting the whole day long damages the musculature and can lead to intervertebral disk problems. Ergonomics experts therefore recommend dynamic sitting – i.e. changing your work habits and never sitting for longer than 20 minutes at once. Alternating between standing and sitting relieves the back. The height-adjustable Knürr ErgoCon® with its ergonomic connection capability for monitors on the circular functional rail helps to realize this recommendation. The lowered monitor level and the separately height-adjustable functional rail not only offer ergonomic benefits with regard to the viewing angle of the monitors – it can also be used to move the desk’s rear panel, so that the user has a free view to the outside or into the room. A big bonus for service purposes: special codes enable fast fault diagnosis. Swapping out the lifting columns is also easy without interrupting workflows. From the outside the sophisticated goings-on of the Knürr ErgoCon® are scarcely noticeable. At the most, in fact, the observer gets to see no more than the control panel. Otherwise all of the ultra-modern technology is neatly hidden away behind the design.
A spacious horizontal cable tray and vertical side extrusions are home to more than a kilometer of cables – plus socket strips, switches and connections for mouse, keyboard, etc. The patented Ergo Edge is also another special feature, consisting of a robust but soft material, and in contrast to metal or multiplex edges, it produces a pleasant surface temperature. In spite of all this elaborate technology, the Knürr ErgoCon® is only marginally more expensive than a conventional workstation.
