Central control station in Münster University Hospital working with Knürr system solution

“The University Hospital’s central control station must ensure the electronic power supply, from the fire alarm system to break-in and access control installations, through to medical supply systems and thermal management technologies,” explains Jürgen Znamenacek, Head of Building Systems at Münster University Hospital. The equipment in the center is one of the critical criteria in ensuring that the university control station’s information can be constantly and reliably analyzed, visualized and regulated fault-free.

Knürr’s Technical Furniture specialists were brought on board to modernize the control station. For more than 20 years now these experts have been developing, designing, constructing and producing ergonomically arranged solutions for process control technologies.
“Flexibility, customized adjustment options and an ergonomic design were extremely important for us in planning the new and more modern central control station,” adds Mr. Znamenacek in explaining the requirements of the project. This is because the station is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, which not only causes constant stresses on the workstations – it also puts strains on the respective employees. A central station harmonized with all of the individual requirements has now been implemented on 150 square meters in close consultation with the corresponding employees. Knürr implemented three Elicon® series height-adjustable desks with accessories including mobile drawer units, rack systems, back-friendly chairs and plenty of work space, complimented with a monitor wall with 14 screens, 19" rack systems and a meeting area.
The basic modular concept of the Elicon® Computer Control Station enables flexible and individual combinations. Elicon® consequently offers all the advantages of a future-proof complete system for the University Hospital’s network center. The individually alignable system incorporates the special requirements of each individual employee, thereby effectively precluding tension and back problems. “Ergonomically adjusted components mean that the team has less stress and strain, and it benefits from the optimized work situation,” Mr. Znamenacek goes on to sum up.
